Quite an enjoyable little piece of rubbish from Statham, if you enjoy his type of bald-headed thuggery -which I rather do - and it should be, given the writer and director.
A Vegas hard-man of undisclosed background helps his ex take revenge on the mobster who raped and beat her. At the same time, he is hired to guard a young dotcommer while he goes out gambling. As it turns out, it's our man Statham who has the problem with gambling and the young man has a different agenda.
The fight scenes are good, I love the little Gambit style moves in the first one, and they don't swamp the movie with too much action. There are some nice little cameos from recognizable people and as a whole it's well balanced. Hardly very taxing but we're not watching Beckett here.
Directed by Simon West who's first film was the brilliantly fun Con Air and, surprisingly, written and adapted by William Goldman whos credits include Butch and Sundance, The Princess Bride and Marathon Man.
A Ronseal movie, it does exactly what is says on the tin.
