Maybe it's the 5 different production companies or the dozen or so producers and exec. producers that make you imagine that there were late night phone calls to Dominik along the lines of "hey, I just watched this movie and they did so and so, lets do that" but the whole thing feels cobbled together. Sure there are some nice little pieces of cinematography in there, the guy standing on the chair, the camera attached to the car door but with everyone in there trying to play the thoughtful mobster, a male equivalent of the hooker with the heart of gold, it's just not enough to keep it going.
There's a decent turn from Ben Mendelsohns junkie but unless I missed it they forgot to give us an ending to his story.
Scoot McNairy is not bad but gets lost in the fray and Ray Liotta, as he has since the age of 25, looks like the love child of William Shatner and The Thing.
Over all it's a C- ... must try harder.
