Unforgiven (2013)

The crossover works perfectly, the performances are wonderful, the production is better than the original in many ways (you can actually see what's going on in this one) and the nihilistic resignation of the lead characters will blow any film buff away. The young guy's adaptation of the Mifune/Kurosawa character is the icing on it.
I only wish I'd seen this one first!
If I have any gripe at all it's that Shiori Kutsuna is too pretty, scars or not.
Do shop around for good subs, the ones I have are good but done by someone who knows the western too well and use of American terms like Ma and Pa don't really fit.
Fans of Japanese cinema and westerns will get more from it but there really is something for everyone here.
I couldn't recommend it more highly.
