Silly and fun detective story by unknown Korean director Seok-yun Kim.
Set in the Joseon period, Detective K is sent to the provinces to investigate corruption under the guise of deciding whether a young woman who has killed herself after the death of her husband should be given the title of Virtuous Widow. In doing so, he uncovers several suspicious deaths, including that of the widow, meets an extremely sexy and seemingly evil business woman with 2 VERY large dogs and a plot to blame everything on the minority Christian community of Korea. Detective K is both super-cool and a complete klutz but, with the help of his dog-stealing sidekick Seo-Pil, he will undoubtedly get the girl, save the peasants and unveil the traitors.
A fairly cheaply made film but with its charming male and beautiful female leads it's very watchable. Ji-min Han, the widow, is quite a well known TV star in Korea and also an animator and Dal-su Oh who plays Seo-Pil had his teeth pulled in Oldboy as well as appearing in Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and I'm a Cyborg, but that's OK.
